So, we did everyone's makeup and hair for Tonya's Wedding. Tonya was such a delight to work with, and her wedding party was so much fun to be around on the wedding day. Her wedding theme was winter wonderland, so her dress and jewelry was just amazing! Her dress had crystals all over it, and her shoes were super, super cute. She tied baby- blue ribbon on her shoes as everyone got ready. She had a bird-cage veil, which I just loved! Her hair was super, super long and thick, so watching Angela at work, was really cool too. This is one of my favorite up-do's ever. Very unique and it just all fit together so well! We did a bronze and black smokey eye with lashes, and airbrush on everyone! All of this was at the Semple mansion!

Doing Megan's makeup for her wedding day was really fun because her wedding party was super fun and Megan was so chill and laid back. She has such a great personality and she is so naturally beautiful. Our company did everyone's makeup and hair, including some of the grandparents! We got her ready at her suite at the Radisson in Minneapolis.

Anna did her hair and I did her makeup. I did airbrush on her, no lashes, she has naturally great, big and thick lashes! She wanted a very natural look, glowy skin and not much on eyes. She wanted a thicker eye- liner that is a bit slanted at the ends to really make her eyes pop! I did airbrush bronzer on her cheeks to make her skin look a bit more highlighted and we did soft pink on her lips. I also dusted the Bobbi Brown Brick Bronzer on her shoulders, back and arms to add just a touch of sun-kissed glow. I think in photographs, this makes a huge difference. Women always wonder how those model's skin in magazines looks so dewy and moisturized!

As for her hair, Megan showed Anna a few pictures of hair ideas and decided on this look. I think the hair jewelry just completed the look so well. The hairstyle was simple but elegant!

When I saw Megan in her dress for the first time, I felt like her entire look just looked perfect! Her dress was simple and elegant, and I think her hair and makeup fit very well with the final look.

Erin Johnson did the photography and I really hope to work with her again soon. Her photography style is so fresh, elegant and amazing! She really captured all the moments from this wedding day so well in every picture!
Sarah Trotter, from Lasting impressions, planned this elegant event. Sarah and I have worked a lot together this past year, and she makes everything go so smooth! She just won the Icon Awards for "Excellence in Design and Decor". Congrats to Sarah! We did Sarah's makeup, hair and airbrush tan for the Icon Awards event.

I really enjoyed doing Stephanie's wedding makeup! We did the wedding party and the bride's makeup and hair. Everyone wanted a different look, which I thought was a great idea! The pictures came out great! Stephanie was married at the Windows of Minnesota at the Marquette hotel. Her fiancee came with her at the makeup and hair trial, which I thought was adorable! I know they will make the best husband and wife because when they were together, you could see their deep connection a mile away.

Her wedding party was super energetic and fun to work with as well! One of her bridesmaids, Elizabeth, booked my services for her wedding on Oct. 10th. I did airbrush on both of them, and they loved how long it stayed on without looking thick and heavy.

When Tiffany came to our studio to have her hair and makeup done, I just knew this was going to be a great photo-shoot! Tiffany was very excited about this shoot and explained to us what type of look she was going for. When I saw her black veil head-piece I was super excited! I had a always wanted to do makeup and hair for a bride with a black veil, because it was something different and very Vogue. Tiffany showed us some Victoria Secret hair styles out of a magazine and she brought a picture of a bride's makeup that she liked that Kelly brown took photos of. Turned out, I did the makeup for the bride that she showed me the picture of.....small world:)
I did smokey eyes with my favorite lashes and of course we did Airbrush! Our hairstylist, Angela, made her hair wavy, but very touchable and loose. Tiffany did not want harsh looking curls, she wanted them to look natural and not perfect. Angela used a hairspray that kept the curls defined, but if you were to touch her hair, you would not feel any spray, it was perfect! Kelly brown sent me these photos a few days after, and I loved every single picture. Wish I would have met her when I got married....we would have done a pre-wedding photo shoot just like this! Kelly is such an amazing photographer, I always get excited to see all of the wedding pictures on her blog.

Tiffany and Scott is getting married in Mexico, Cabo in 2011. I can only imagine how beautiful their wedding is going to be.

Molly and I have known each other since we were kids. Our parents were close friends, so we often hung out when we were really young. When I got married, I had her mom, Jan, do our wedding pictures. My sister just got married last June, and Jan also did her wedding pictures. When Molly asked me to do her hair and makeup for her big day, I was very excited. At her consultation, she showed me the bird cage veil she loves with some feathers! Molly also showed me a bridal makeup picture out of a magazine that showed a super natural look, with a flawless effect to the skin as well. We added a bit more drama to the eyes, but kept everything else very classic. Molly had 2 wedding ceremonies, 1 in San Fransisco and 1 in Minneapolis. SO Lucky...how many brides get to do that? She got to wear her dress twice!

Jennifer Green got Married at the Saint Paul, one of my favorite spots! I did her mother's makeup as well. It was so, so much fun doing these two gal's makeup.....they loved makeup, and they were not afraid of some color! I did dark, smokey eyes on the both of them, and put on some wispier lashes on them as well. They loved the airbrush makeup, and said at their consultation, they could'nt believe how long it lasted. Jennifer's dress was a "dream dress". I think it was the perfect dress for her petite frame. The photographers were also commenting on how amazing the dress was. Everyone that surrounded her that day was so, so happy! Her good friend did her hair, and it looked fantastic! Maybe I will get the chance to do these girl's makeup again when they go out for a mother/daughter night out!

Andra booked our services by her maid of honors recommendation, Sydney. Sydney got married last year, and I did her makeup. It was a perfect day! Andra got married at the "Little Lodge Pioneer village" In Hastings. It was quite a place! Everyone got ready in this adorable chapel looking room. It has pink flowers all around the mirrors, and the room was very girlie! Andra's hair was super thick naturally, so this type of hairstyle just worked so well. I did airbrush foundation on her and put on some very little lashes. She wanted a natural look, and so I just did some bronzed shadows on her, with a pale pink gloss, and she looked amazing! Andra is one of the sweetest brides I have had yet, and it was really fun doing her makeup for her big day~

All about one of my favorite looks: The Smokey Eye!

A lot of brides have asked me recently how to do a great smokey eye, and have also requested I do this type of look for their wedding day. I really love doing smokey eyes for brides because this look really stands out in pictures, and it looks amazing face to face as well.

Once of the most important things to keep in mind when you are deciding whether or not you want this type of look for your wedding day, is deciding on whether you want your eyes to pop or your lip color to pop. I never do a smokey eye, and then put on a really dark lip color. Doing this will look too heavy, and it is always good to have one dark feature, and then have the rest of the features more soft and neutral. You always want a focus point when you are doing your makeup.

My all time favorite look is doing a smokey eye with blacks, grays, a cream color, and a hint of a plum on the eyes. I love wispy lashes, and using just a bit of plum and black eyeshadow on the bottom of the lid. I do mascara top and bottom, and put a bit of a champagne sparkle eye shadow in the corner of the lids. This really opens up the eyes, and it adds a bit of romance to the look. I always like do airbrush foundation, with a hint of shimmery bronzer, and a pink cream blush on the apples of the cheeks. I like to stay away from the super Matte look, I am more into the dewy cheeks and skin. For the lips, I line them with a very neutral/soft pink plum lip liner, put on a sheer pink colored lip stain, and then coat the lips with a light layer of my favorite nectar gloss. I have done this look more than a hundred of times, and every time, it just works! I've had photographers even tell me "Wow, She looks just like she is going to the Oscars!"

If you do not wear much makeup at all on a regular basis, and never wear black liner, this look may be just a little too dark for you. I prefer to do this type of look on people that are use to seeing themselves with a bit of makeup, and feel very comfortable with black and gray eye shadows and liners. It's very important that brides don't look like a completely different person on their wedding day. You don't want your guesting thinking they have accidentally attended the wrong wedding:)

For brides that are getting married the morning or early afternoon, and don't usually wear much makeup, I would suggest doing a more bronze or soft pink with gold type of eye. The lips can stay more neutral or more glam, either way would look great. Natural, but fuller false lashes are also great. I love to do a tint of an olive green eyeshadow and a plum eyeliner and lip gloss. This look is really great for an outside wedding.

Congrats to Kristen McCune! Kristen got married on Dec. 27. We got her and her party ready at the very beautiful Saint Paul Hotel! I felt like just one of the girls that day! Her bridal party and I gabbed about beauty stuff all day, as I did everyone's makeup. Kristen's mom was super sweet. She remind me of my mom, she is such a genuine person. I loved kristen's style, her dress was to die for! At the makeup and hair consultation, she wanted to try some smokey eyes. She liked it, but was not in love with it. So, on the wedding day, I spiced it up a bit, and added more bronze to her shadow instead of the greys tones that we did on her at her consultation. I added a bit of plum shadow on her liner, and put the gold bronze and plum her bottom of her eyelid. I put some really wispy lashes on her, and did a very light pink gloss with a tint of plum. Looking at these pictures, it really worked great on her. We did Kristen's airbrush tan too. She was glowing. This is a gal that I would picture being Friends with. She's a total sweetheart, and her personality is amazing. Oh, and one of her bridesmaids brought in clip in extensions. She said they were real hair, and wanted Angela to clip them in as she styled her hair. She looked amazing!!! I went to Sally's and bought myself a pair the next week. Reminded me of Jessica's Simspon's hair on her wedding day with Nick.

We also want to congratulate Jessica W. She got married on Sunday Jan. 18th. At Jessica's consultation, she said she loved the winter, and was hoping that would snow on her wedding day. Well, it snowed perfectly all day, just like she had hoped. Jessica got married at the Semple Mansion. It was such a fun day getting her and her girlfriends pretty. The photographer, Kelly Brown, rocks!!! Right when I saw her step into the "Bridal Room", I was like....Yes, I am going to have some great pictures of Jessica to share on my new blog! We did super smokey eyes on the bride, and we did a bit of airbrush. Jessica wanted big lashes to really show off her beautiful eyes. This was not a bride that was afraid of some dramatic makeup. I love doing all types of makeup artistry, but she really let me do my art! It was Fantastic!
